Teenage Stars ARE Role Models

The Disney Channel in particular has a nack for taking a 'tween' and turning him/her into a super star. Eventually these kids grow up and and move on from there perfect disney character image. And lets face it 90% of them end up on the cover of some lame tabloid putting them down for not being a good role model and attack them for what reason?

Let's start with Hilary Duff. She is the same age as me and I survived my awkward tween years watching her on Lizzie McGuire. Her character was fun and quirky and totally relatable. As a performer she's very talented she learned how to sing and put out some great music that I could also relate to at the time.

There was a time where she was being accused of taking drugs and eating disorders; but who really knows the truth only she does and those close to her. If those accusations were true that makes her more of a real person anyway. No it is not a good influence on the girls looking up to her but there are real girls not at her status of celebrity that do go through those things and seeing someone like her who is talented and successful get through hard times is inspirational.

Now Hilary is 24, married to a handsome hockey player and expecting her first child. Now that is the life I would aspire to have.

And then there is Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana. I'd be lying if I said I was not a fan. She's beautiful, talented and genuine. She was attacked by the media pretty much for growing up. The most recent photo of her wearing a low cut dress got a lot of attention...big deal? She's a 19 year old girl and she looked amazing. The world watched her grow up from a 12 year old actress into a successful woman singing and acting and having fun the way she chooses to live her life; and All the power to her.

Demi Lovato is probably the one that has inspired me the most. She publicly spoke about her issues with depression. That is something that hits very close to home; someone I love very much deals with depression and has attempted suicide. I know that she looks up to Demi for getting through similar problems.

She has shown girls that it's ok to take a break from a crazy life and take care of yourself. Through her rehab she has put on some weight and some critics thought it was ok to point that out. She is not overweight she looks healthy and happy; and she is just as if not more beautiful than she was before. She embraces how she looks and that teaches her young fans that they dont have to be stick thin.

As seen in the photo of Demi Lovato there is a pressure to be perfect and these stars - ROLE MODELS are changing that. There is no such thing as a perfect Full House life. Everyone goes through the same difficulties but deal with it in different ways.

Let's stop attacking every wrong move they make and praise them for the right they do and how they deal with the situation.
